If you have experience in running a small business or have senior management or director experience in a larger company for example you may be interested in becoming a volunteer business mentor.
Helping to support smaller enterprises to start and grow is a the heart of what we do and all volunteer mentors we refer to have gained an enormous amount of satisfaction from volunteering to mentor small businesses that may well be in the extremely early stages of their business careers.
Becoming a volunteer business mentor opens up a range of new opportunities and challenges for you - no matter how experienced in business you are you will be amazed at the diverse range of activities and antics our clients get up to!
We are well connected throughout the region with business support projects and organisations with whom we work including other mentoring projects which may operate in specific areas or with specific types of clients. This opens up a raft of opportunities for volunteer mentors around the area to help persons starting out and developing and to give a little bit back to others who may not be in such a fortunate position as yourselves but who have big plans and ambitions to improve their building their own business.
We provide workshops that are provided free of charge to help equip mentors for the volunteer mentoring role and receive referrals to spend time with people seeking mentoring assistance.
We also hold periodic workshops on specific mentoring and business issues for volunteer mentors and invitations to specific networking and events all of which are provided free of charge.
We have a presence at a number of trade shows in the region where we offer support to people on the spot and afterwards. The shows do not only have experienced business people there as sellers and buyers but a number of first-timers researching before they really get going. These might well benefit from the experience of volunteer mentors and valuable discussions that will help them on their way. We invite volunteer mentors to join us at the shows - plenty of free coffee and biscuits too !
This is also provided free of charge to those attending the show whether as exhibitors, who are mainly first time at the event, and those attending to research their markets or attending the event with view to buying from exhibitors.
